Artist Spotlight: Briana Cisneros, the Renegade Behind the Bixie

Some stylists chase trends. Briana Cisneros makes them. If you have cut a bixie in the last few years, that hybrid of pixie and bob that clients keep asking for, you have been working inside a shape she helped put on the map. That alone would earn her a spotlight, but the trend is honestly the least interesting thing about her career.

Eighteen Years of Earning It

Cisneros has spent more than eighteen years in the hair and fashion industries, and her resume reads like two careers stacked on top of each other. On one side there is the celebrity and editorial work: a clientele spanning celebrities, influencers, and other industry pros, features in Vogue, Glamour, People, and Cosmopolitan, and appearances on MTV and E!. On the other side there is the runway leadership, directing teams of hairstylists at major fashion shows around the world, including serving as lead hairstylist at New York Fashion Week, where the job is less about doing one great head of hair and more about getting an entire team to execute a single editorial vision under brutal time pressure.

What makes her work distinctive is the range. She is celebrated for bold, transformative color, but she is just as known for technically precise, tailor made haircuts built around each client's identity. Color artists who can really cut are rare. Cutters who can really color are rarer. She is both, and that combination is exactly why brands trust her on a global stage.
