Warming Up: A Seamless Air Touch and Foil Integration
The secret to a perfect blonde is a great consultation. For Jenny, we decided to move away from dull, ashy tones and shift toward a warmer, golden glow. By combining traditional foiling with the Air Touch technique, we created a look that is both high-impact and incredibly soft.
The Setup: Precise Sectioning
Clean sectioning is the secret to a predictable result.
-
Natural Part: Start by sectioning down the natural part.
-
The "Veil" Section: Section out about an inch below the curve of the head. This allows the hair to veil over the back, ensuring the front and back blend seamlessly.
Step 1: Establishing the Perimeter
In the back, start at the very bottom of the hairline.
-
The Weave: Begin with a tight weave to get close to the root.
-
The Developer: Use a low volume (like 5 Volume) for hair that lifts quickly. I used Nova 9 Plus because it doesn't swell, keeping the work clean.
-
The Pattern: After flanking the sides with diagonals, complete the hairline by placing one foil straight across the center.
Step 2: The Air Touch Technique
Split the back down the middle and work upward using diagonal sections.
-
The Blowout: Take a thick slice and use a blow dryer to push out the shorter layers.
-
The Application: Use a board for stability. As you move into coarser hair, bump up to 10 Volume. Feather the lightener up to the transition point to ensure a soft grow-out.
Step 3: Framing the Face
On the sides, the hair is often more fragile, so return to 5 Volume.
-
Baby Weaves: Start with two back-to-back fine baby light weaves right at the face frame.
-
Diagonal Backs: Transition into Air Touch slices, working in diagonal back sections. Leave about an eighth of an inch between foils for dimension.

Step 4: The "Money Piece"
This is the brightest focal point of the entire look.
-
Triple Threat: Place three back-to-back weaved foils on each side of the part.
-
The Transition: Behind the money piece, move into Air Touch columns. Use 20 Volume at the root for these final sections to ensure the lift is consistent with the rest of the head.

The Pro Secret: The "Push" Blend
When you reach the top sections, start your application two inches below the foil edge. As you reach the top, use the corner of your brush to "push" the product forward. This creates a blurred entry point that eliminates harsh lines.
The Result
The result is a bright, dimensional blonde that radiates health. By shifting from ashy to gold, the hair looks richer and more intentional.
